by

not covered in our website, please
do not

Q. We tried to light the refrigerator on propane
and nothing happened. It has always
worked
on the shore power.
A. I am sure that you checked the propane tanks
first. If so, then be sure the "house"
batteries are in good working condition.
And check around the pilot assembly
area
for spider web's. The little devils
just
love the taste.
Q. I smell propane. What should I do?
A. First shut down the tanks! Then be sure,
if it is safe, to open all doors and
windows
to let the coach air out. Prepare a
solution
of water and dish soap in a spray bottle.
Take the solution to the tanks and
slightly
turn them on. Spray the valve area
and look
for gas bubbles. If the outside is
ok repeat
the procedure at all fittings, starting
with
the outside access doors.
Q. I have had my RV
plugged into our home (shore
power) for six months. When we wanted
to
go for the weekend the batteries wouldn't
work.
A. When the RV is parked
always disconnect
the batteries. The converter will over
"cook"
the house batteries and cause the liquid
to boil out. Thereby causing the batteries
to fail. You should power up the batteries
about 2 to 3 days before leaving. Always
check the liquid level of the batteries.
Q. Someone told me that the refrigerator has
to be level when in use and the RV
is parked.
A. YES!?!? There is a chance that the refrigerator
could go out after the first trip. The best
level to buy is the tiny round one with the
center "Bulls Eye" and if the bubble
is in the center then the fridge is level.
The reason for this is on the back of the fridge is a coil system. This system is a
heat exchanger. It is filled with an ammoniated
liquid. If the fridge is not level a clog can happen. This is why sometimes you can
smell ammonia. Once you have this smell the fridge is toast.
Q. Our generator stopped running while we were
camping. After we stopped for fuel, it would
run again.
A. That's good, because that is what it is
supposed to do. The coach manufacture
has
a put a safety shut-off in your fuel
tank
so that once you have reached a certain
fuel
level the generator will shut down.
This
is to allow you enough fuel to get
to a fueling
station.
Q. Our satellite is not working and the salesman
said the coach was satellite ready.
A. (1.) Do you have a Dish or Direct TV receiver?
If not you must either purchase a "plan"
or take the one from your home. (2.) Once
you are ready and if you have the basic unit,
sometimes, you have to call in the "zip
code" for your location. (3.) Check
all the connections to make sure that you
have a solid power location. (4.) If it is
a mobile unit you can ask at "check
in" for the best locations. Usually
they will have a map with the co-ordinance
for the satellites. Also, because most RV's
are really good people, your next door neighbor
will not mind if you drag your cable through
their camp site. But always ask, first.
OF COURSE ALWAYS CHECK WITH A "TECH"
ON ANY PROBLEMS WITH PROPANE QUESTIONS,
OR
ANY SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. SAFETY
IS
ALWAYS THE MAIN ISSUE...ALWAYS SAFETY FIRST!!
